Metropolitan Hrizostom: It is important to promote Peace and Goodwill, without that there is no Coexistence

”The balanced mutual relationship between Churches and religious communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), is the focus of the Interreligious Council (IRC) in BiH, and by the imperative of its vocation, it promotes peace and even more goodwill among peoples and nations, ” said in an interview the chairman of the Interreligious Council, Metropolitan Hrizostomof Dabar-Bosnia.

”And if we need to define something as the greatest merit of the IRC in its many years of operation, then it is the fact that it was founded and stabilized and that it has been functioning continuously for so many years,” Hrizostom emphasizes.

Spiritual support

He added that the IRC of BiH should be the spiritual support of the citizens of different religions and beliefs in BiH.

”We would like that to be the case, but we are afraid that many BiH citizens have not even heard that there is an IRC of BiH because its activities are completely “obscured” in the vague picture of BiH,” said Hrizostom in a conversation about the IRC.

It is a great thing, he added, that the IRC members meet regularly, discuss, bring certain conclusions and propose concrete proposals to their churches and religious communities, and suggest positive steps in inter-religious relations of BiH citizens.

”Churches and religious communities should be an example to follow both for their believers and for all those who are not. By their example, religious leaders in the IRC BiH show the believers how they should respect each other, honor each other, help and act with the laws and teachings of their Churches and religious communities. This is the basic function of the IRC in BiH, and everything else has been added or included over time,”stressed the Metropolitan of Dabar-Bosnia.
