Nineteen women in Bosanska Krupa, who decided to pursue these occupations four months ago, have proved that women can work as welders and operators on CNC machines in industrial production.
In December last year, Mirela Nuhanovic got a job as an operator on CNC machines in the company “Krupa kabine” from Bosanska Krupa. She started by accident, but she stayed there on purpose.
“When it was Open Pink Door Day, I came here with my sister. We looked, we talked, we just agreed right away to see if we could do it or not. And here we are for the fourth month, “ says Mirela.
Mirela is not the only one. Dajra Ramic graduated from a textile school and worked for eight years in a textile factory, which eventually ended in bankruptcy. She was unemployed for fifteen years.
“I have decided to apply. Since I didn’t work anywhere and I got a job. We had training. It went well, “ she explained.
Four months ago, the Open Pink Door Day project was implemented, where women were offered to work in industrial production. On that occasion, 19 women were employed.
“It is a very beautiful project that we are proud of – to give the opportunity to all women who are unemployed and who are not satisfied with their current business status to find a new opportunity. We have machines that make it easier, we have technology so every job here is tailored to women as well. That means that the strength is mental, in the brain, not in the hands,” points out the procurator Aida Fojnica.
The company “Krupa kabine” is engaged in the production of cabins and currently employs 370 workers, of which about 50 are women. Besides accounting and logistics, women now work as mechanical engineers in technology, in quality control of the final product, and CNC operators and welders.
“Of course, we are happy that this pilot project of employing women in the production itself succeeded, we are satisfied and, of course, if the need arises, we will gladly start hiring otherwomen,” told ”Krupa kabine” director Dzenan Dzafic.
Women in Bosanska Krupa have proven that anything is possible. You just have to have a desire, Mirela and Dajra said, who never even dreamed that one day they would do these jobs. It is the two of them, although they are not the only ones, who break the stigma. The social one. That women are not strong or capable of doing jobs that society, as we can see unjustly, attributed to the stronger sex.
