Michael Roth in the Context of the Russian Invasion: We must stop the Separatists in BiH

After Russia’s attack on Ukraine, Michael Roth, head of the Bundestag’s Foreign Affairs Committee, said that Russia was not only fighting against Ukraine but was questioning the existence of the Eastern European states.

“Putin is not only fighting against Ukraine, but he is questioning the right of existence of the Eastern European states. He is also destroying the European Union (EU) perspective of the Western Balkans,” Roth said.

He added that the EU must finally keep its promise and overcome its disagreements over the accession of North Macedonia and Albania.

“The separatists in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) need to be stopped and visa liberalization given to Kosovo. Bulgaria must finally give up blocking accession talks with North Macedonia,” Roth said.

He added that no country needs to join immediately.

“However, we no longer keep our promises and are destroying our credibility,” Roth noted.
