The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina handed down the first-instance verdict to Milan Trišić, by which he was sentenced to 15 years in prison for a crime against humanity committed against Bosniak civilians in the Bratunac area.

Trišić was found guilty of participating in murders, disappearances and inhumane treatment in the Bratunac area in May 1992 as a member of the Territorial Defense and later of the Republika Srpska Army.

During the proceedings, Trišić defended himself from freedom, and the Court made a decision ordering him to be detained, Detektor reports.

Trišić was extradited from the United States in October 2019, and his trial began in June 2010.

Today’s ruling of permission is being appealed to the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Detektor reports.
