At the investment conference held in November last year, the Government of Serbia promised to donate five million EUR to Srebrenica.

Two million were paid to the account of the Municipality right after the conference, and the rest of the money was supposed to be paid through developmental projects.

However, the question is whether Srebrenica will get those funds at all. Namely, the Government of Serbia stated that they are disappointed with messages that come from that town and that the further implementation of the deal does not depend on them.

“We are very surprised with messages and news we received from Srebrenica. That is the money of Serbian citizens. According to the present situation, apparently the projects in Srebrenica have been perceived as a part of some policy, which was not our desire or idea,” said Rade Obradović from the Ministry of Infrastructure of Serbia.

The Government of Serbia put the idea of helping the people of Srebrenica on hold, stating how it now depends on the authorities in Srebrenica whether the promises made at the investment conference will be made true.

“We will see in which way the Municipality of Srebrenica will further perceive this entire project and in which way they will see the implementation of this project in general,” Obradović added.

The cooperation was running according to the plan and agreements and the municipal authorities of Srebrenica could not even imagine that it might become uncertain, said the Mayor of Srebrenica Ćamil Duraković.
