The independent trade union of the “Zenica” Coal Mine Subsidiary Company, and after learning that the Management Board of Elektroprivreda BiH at today’s session approved an extraordinary payment of part of the contracted amounts of coal in the amount of 7.4 million BAM, will ask the director Mensur Hukić to cancel the decision on the temporary interruption of production in the “Raspotočje” pit – confirmed the president of that union, Elvedin Avdić to Fena.
On July 25, the Zenica miners suspended production, and two days later director Hukić made a decision to temporarily stop work.
“We will ask our director to cancel the current decision and make a new one, about the restart of work, and invite the worker to work, but also with the application of all measures prescribed by the Law on Mining of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This means that it will not be possible to resume production yesterday, which will probably start today,” announced Avdić.
The approved amount of 7.4 million BAM will be sufficient to pay the June and July wages for the Zenica miners, but also to unblock the company’s accounts.
The Zenica mine, for the approved advance, has committed to establish a work process and produce 35,000 tons of coal per month, which will be delivered to the Kakanj Thermal Power Plant.
Today, the newly appointed Management Board of Public Enterprise Elektroprivreda BiH approved 7.4 million BAM for the Zenica Brown Coal Mine, Elektroprivreda BiH announced.
The money was approved with the aim of settling obligations towards the employees of the Mine for June and July of this year, unblocking accounts and restarting production.
“RMU “Zenica” has committed itself to the production of 35,000 tons of coal per month, which will facilitate the provision of the necessary quantities for the operation of the “Kakanj” thermal power plant, provide the basis for the return of the received advance and enable continuity in the production process,” the announcement states.
Bearing in mind the upcoming period of lower temperatures that make conditions for exploitation more difficult, Elektroprivreda believes that it is necessary to undertake measures and activities to increase coal deliveries from all mines of the Concern, to prevent work stoppages and enable the smooth operation of tremo plants, to preserve the integrity of the power system and stable supply to customers.
