Miners’ Protest cancelled; systemic Solution sought for Healthcare Debt

The trade union organizations of the Kakanj, Breza, and Zenica Brown Coal Mines (RMU) had scheduled a protest for Monday, October 26, at 1:00 PM, in front of the Health Insurance Institute (ZZO) of the Zenica-Doboj Canton in Zenica; however, the protest has been called off, confirmed Abdel Fazlić, president of the Kakanj RMU Trade Union.

According to what Fazlić told FENA, the ZZO of the Zenica-Doboj Canton stopped validating health insurance booklets for employees of these three mines – which are part of the Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine (EPBiH) Group – once again on October 21.

“The protest has been called off because, during a meeting with the Director of the ZZO, Ahmed Kasap, we agreed that the validation of the booklets would resume. We also agreed to seek a systemic solution through a future meeting, which is expected to include the relevant Minister from the Federation of BiH Government, Vedran Lakić; the Director of EPBiH; the directors of the three mines; and trade union representatives. The goal is to find a systemic solution regarding the mines’ debts to the ZZO,” Fazlić explained.

“Director Kasap agreed to work on scheduling this meeting within the next seven days,” Fazlić noted, Fena writes.
