Miners still haven’t received their Salaries, and they don’t want to continue Production

Zenica miners, despite the fact that the Public Company Elektroprivreda Bosnia and Herzegovina (EPBiH) approved the funds for the payment of all blocked funds, still have not received their April salary or ended the workers’ disobedience, confirmed the president of the Trade Union of the Zenica Brown Coal Mines, Elvedin Avdic.

He points out that the workers refuse to continue production until they are paid their wages, which they stopped in the second shift on May 25th.

The workers do not want to resume production until their accounts have the salary for April and the meal allowance and the remaining part of the March salary, which was suspended on our payrolls for the repayment of loan installments.

“The workers do not want to resume production until their accounts have the salary for April and the compensation for their paid meal and the remaining part of the March salary, which was suspended on our payrolls for the repayment of loan installments. The second installment has come due for payment to people, and many have their accounts blocked. The only luck is that they have monthly tickets and can come and report to work regularly,” Avdic explains.

The director of the company, Mensur Hukic, pointed out that he held a meeting yesterday and appealed to the Trade Union and the miners to resume production, but that he did not succeed.

“The money was secured, but the banks failed to implement over 300 orders, so the company’s account has not yet been unblocked. It is a big job and it is certain that it will not be finished today, and we will see when it will be finished next week. I begged the workers to resume production, because we have money to pay the salary and all due obligations, but the workers did not agree,” Hukic stated yesterday.

The management of that company, only temporarily for 30 days, decided even after the end of the workers’ disobedience to suspend the mining works in the “Stara jama” plant, and will transfer all production workers to the “Raspotocje” plant, which should produce 35,000 tons of coal per month and provide funds for normal functioning in the coming period.
