Cooperation and coordination of all police agencies involved in migration management will be raised to a higher level, in order to preserve public order and peace, but also to improve the safety of citizens living near migrant reception centers, it was concluded today at a meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Border Police of BiH and the Service for Foreigners Affairs of BiH, as well as the Ministries of Interior of the Sarajevo Canton and the Una-Sana Canton.

The meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Security of BiH Selmo Cikotić, Director of the BiH Border Police Zoran Galić, Director of the Service for Foreigners Affairs of BiH Slobodan Ujić, Ministers of Interior of SC and USC Admir Katica and Nermin Kljajić, and Head of IOM Mission to BiH Laura Lungerotti, focused on the improvement of the functionality of temporary reception centers in BiH, especially after the recent incidents in the area of Bihać and Sarajevo, where most of the illegal migrants are accommodated in BiH.

Cikotic pointed out the new initiative of the Ministry of Security to distribute the burden of the migrant crisis evenly on the entire territory of BiH, and to form a new agency that would exclusively deal with the issue of illegal migrants.

He stressed the need for domestic institutions and security agencies to fully take over migration management in BiH.

It was agreed that the cantonal police forces would strengthen cooperation and coordination with the Service for Foreigners Affairs in order to prevent possible incidents and other criminal acts committed by migrants.

Also, the participants of the meeting insisted on the urgent identification of migrants who participated in the recent incidents and their processing and sanctioning.
