The Minister of Energy and Mining of the Republika Srpska (RS), Petar Djokic, expressed hope that the “Dabar” Hydroelectric Power Plant will be completed by the end of 2027 and emphasized that the operation of this most complex hydroelectric facility, in which 664 million BAM has been invested, will bring benefits to the entire eastern Herzegovina.
He stated that this project covers four municipalities over a span of 40 kilometers and highlighted that the key structure is a 12-kilometer tunnel, which is nearly finished.
“This is an exceptional construction achievement, the first of its kind in the world in the 21st century,” Djokic told reporters after a meeting with Chinese partners and an inspection of the works at “Dabar” Hydroelectric Power Plant, emphasizing that he is proud to have been part of this project since the beginning of its implementation.
Djokic stated that on Friday, he met with representatives of the Chinese partner company “Gezhouba” (Gezhouba Group), which is leading the construction of the project, along with their subcontractors, the domestic companies “Integral” and “Elnos.”
He said that certain operational challenges were discussed and stressed that difficulties will be overcome along the way, expressing confidence that there will be understanding from those important for the realization of the project, primarily the Chinese side – the Exim Bank and SinoSure insurance, which insures this project.
Furthermore, he also emphasized the importance of “Elektroprivreda Srpske” and the Trebisnjica Hydroelectric Plants, which own the “Dabar” Hydroelectric Power Plant and contribute to the project.
Djokic highlighted that “Dabar” Hydroelectric Power Plant is a financially demanding project and that the decisions made by the Government of Srpska, together with Trebisnjica Hydroelectric Plants and the company “Elektroprivreda Srpske” are justified, because only time will show the extent of the positive effects this facility will have for all local communities in eastern Herzegovina.
He added that he is convinced that even at this stage of construction, the positive effects are already visible in these local communities.
Djokic said that the works are very complex and require a dedicated approach by a quality team of people, and that the construction company “Energoprojekt” from Belgrade is supervising this project, Glas Srpske writes.
