On 28 November 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, met in Barcelona, on the sidelines of the 10th Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean, in separate meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain, José Manuel Albares, the Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Paulo Rangel, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Badr Abdelatty.
Ministers Konaković and Albares expressed satisfaction with the strong and friendly bilateral relations, as well as the intensive political dialogue between the two countries. They discussed the possibilities of further deepening cooperation, especially in the areas of economy and tourism.
Minister Konaković thanked Spain for its clear and continuous support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for its consistent assistance in the European integration process.
At the meeting between Minister Konaković and Portuguese Minister Rangel, it was assessed that the bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Portugal are good and friendly, with mutual readiness to further strengthen cooperation, especially in the field of economy.
Minister Konaković thanked Portugal for its continued support for the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of BiH.
Minister Rangel stressed that Portugal strongly supports Bosnia and Herzegovina’s membership in NATO and the European Union, and stressed the need for stronger political support for pro-European forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina by EU institutions. Cooperation on a multilateral level was also discussed.
During the meeting between Minister Konaković and Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdelatty, mutual satisfaction with the overall political relations between the two friendly countries was expressed. Special attention was paid to strengthening economic cooperation, including the initiative to form a BiH-Egypt Business Council to improve trade and investment.
The improvement of cooperation in the areas of defense and security was also discussed.
