The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Marina Pendes is leading a delegation of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH, which will be in an official visit to the US between September 11th and 13th.
At the invitation of the deputy general secretary of NATO for political affairs and security policy Alejandro Alvargonzales, Pendes will participate in a conference about building integrity in the defense sector. This conference will mark ten years of the launch of an initiative of the same name, in which BiH is involved in from the very beginning. Pendes will be a panelist on the first panel of the Conference.
During the visit, Pendes will hold a series of important bilateral meetings in Washington – on Monday, with the assistant secretary of state Hoyt Yee in the State Department and in the White House with the National Security Council’s director for the Balkans Brad Berkley.
The day after, Pendes will have a bilateral meeting with Alvargonzales and then with the deputy secretary of defense Patrick Shanahan.
She will present to Shanahan the key activities undertaken by the BiH ministry of defense and the BiH armed forces relating to the registration of property on the state, the implementation of the “Defense Review,” the continuation of BiH’s support to Operation Resolute Support in Afghanistan and other activities relating to the Euroatlatic integrations process.
The same day, the delegation will meet with the commander of all national guards in the U.S., general joseph Lengyel and discuss the National Partnership Program between BiH and the U.S.
After the end of the Conference, on Wednesday, the delegation will visit the National Guard of Maryland, where their host will be major general Linda L. Singh.
