Under the “Global Forum for Food and Agriculture-Berlin 2013” on the theme “Responsible Investment in the agri-food sector-the main factor for food security and rural development”, the 5th Summit of Ministers of Agriculture was held, which was attended by the federal Deputy and Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry Jerko Ivankovic Lijanović.

This occasion was used to exchange views on how to encourage private and public investment in this area.

Special attention was given to the issue of how to run a responsible investment with political leadership and to create good preconditions.

“Around sixty Ministers of Agriculture from around the world have concluded that its very important to invest in agriculture and rural development. We have all committed ourselves to ask our governments to allocate significant resources to invest in these areas in order to ensure a sufficient supply of food.  Agricultural production is not only a job that we do. It is a guarantee for a better life for the global population “, said Lijanovic after the summit.
