Before the celebration of the unconstitutional Day of Republika Srpska (RS), a meeting between the Minister of Internal Affairs of the RS Sinisa Karan and the Director of the RS Police Sinisa Kostresevic was held in Pale.
Karan and Kostresevic discussed the final preparations for celebrating the Day of the RS, after which they addressed the media.
The Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS, Sinisa Karan, said that he had familiarized himself with the security situation in the area of Istocno Sarajevo and said that the situation is good and that the citizens can be relaxed.
“I am saying this in the context of everything that is known to the public about the Day of the RS and the security events that are aimed at celebrating the Day of the RS. We are following all these events, we will have adequate answers,” he noted.
He invited all citizens to come on January 9th to celebrate the Day of the RS, and said that everyone who is against January 9th is against the RS.
“All this that is happening in the media attack is just proof of how wise the policy was 31 years ago to create the RS,” said Karan.
He said that the biological and spiritual disappearance of a nation can be prevented by its state.
“At that time, in 1992, the Serbian people were biologically and spiritually threatened after the breakup of Yugoslavia, and the creation of the RS, as it is today after 31 years, is a guarantee of a successful life not only for the Serbian people, but for all citizens living in the territory of the RS,“ said the minister.
Sinisa Karan said that the information about the unconstitutionality of this holiday is not correct and that the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) correctly envisages that this issue is regulated by the Constitution of the RS, which it legally regulated.
“The Political Constitutional Court of BiH tried to change historical events and facts with its political decisions for January 9th,” said Karan.
According to him, everyone who fights against the RS is fighting against BiH because it is an integral part of this country, and he said that the RS also “doesn’t like March 1st, but nobodysaid that they should celebrate it the next day, on March 2nd.”
“I don’t think that citizens in the Federation are against RS. We don’t like March 1st, but we didn’t say that it should be celebrated on March 2nd. For us, March 1st is synonymous with the tragic conflict in BiH. We don’t like it, but we don’t dispute it. Let them celebrate their own March 1st,” said Karan.
Director of the RS Police, Sinisa Kostresevic, said that the police have already completed a large part of their work and that over 800 police officers will protect citizens’ safety.
“The calls for riots and protests did not come from official institutions, but from some organizations that are trying to create tension that no one needs. We have no doubt that everything will pass peacefully and as befits a celebration,” explained Kostresevic, Klix.ba reports.
