The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Manahan M.P. Sitompul, with his associates, visited Konjic on Thursday, where he met with Mayor Osman Ćatić.
During the visit, they discussed possibilities for cooperation in the future.
“After arriving in Bosnia and Herzegovina four months ago, this is my first visit to Konjic and also my first mission, which is to establish cooperation with the City of Konjic. We want to develop cooperation between the City of Konjic and the Municipality of Jepara in Indonesia, which is known for this issue. We saw the potential in this city and I am glad that I had the opportunity to visit and get to know Konjic and its values, so I thank Mayor Osman Ćatić for the wonderful welcome,” said Ambassador Manahan M.P. Sitompul, emphasizing his desire and intention to get to know Konjic woodcarving.
Mayor Ćatić expressed his pleasure at having the opportunity to host the Ambassador and his associates.
“The programs and ideas we discussed relate to Konjic woodcarving, which is inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list, as well as to the economy, tourism, trade and everything that we can jointly improve with the Municipality of Jepara, which has a similar activity when it comes to woodcarving and cultural and historical heritage, which is also interesting for our area. What is very important for all people involved in this activity is to preserve it in the right way, through education and exchange of certain skills of the craftsmen themselves, where our woodcarving and Indonesian woodcarving would be improved,” said Mayor Ćatić.
