The People and Justice Party (NiP) issued a statement in response to a shocking claim by former U.S. Ambassador Michael Murphy, who stated that SDA party leader Bakir Izetbegović agreed to the division of Bosnia and Herzegovina during constitutional reform negotiations in 2021.
NiP accused the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) of “trying for years to portray the Troika as traitors, while today, their false patriotic mask is crumbling before the entire public.”
“Michael Murphy was not speaking about rumors, but about what Bakir Izetbegović personally told U.S. officials. So, while they publicly and loudly advocated for the defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, they privately suggested its division,” NiP stated.
They believe this is not surprising, as Bakir Izetbegović has for years used patriotism as a pretext to preserve his own position.
“Now the things we were warned about are finally visible: Bakir Izetbegović is ready to sell out the country for a handful of power and political survival. The loudest voices accusing others of being traitors were clearly hiding their own betrayal. Murphy did not say that the Troika proposed the country’s division, butthat Bakir Izetbegović was the one who proposed it to US officials. If he is willing to offer such things to Americans, then citizens have every right to question what he is prepared to offer Dodik and Čović behind closed doors,” NiP stated.
They emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina is not anyone’s private property or the subject of secret negotiations by politically washed-up individuals who would sell out their own people and country for another term.
“SDA will not succeed in hiding behind false patriotism, blackmail, and intimidation. Citizens see who has been pretending to defend Bosnia and Herzegovina, while in realitythey were ready to plot its division behind the scenes.”
