Kerim Alajbegović should be the starter for Juventus against Celta Vigo at the Balaidos stadium tonight, after he assisted Randal Kolo Muani against Cagliari in Serie A.
Luciano Spalletti, the coach of Juventus, is counting on our winger to bring the penetration and quality the team lacked before his entry against Cagliari.
Alajbegović then created two great opportunities for Kolo Muani, one of which ended with a goal and the other with a crossbar.
The Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport writes that Alajbegović has already made a strong impression outside of Italy: first in the jersey of Bosnia and Herzegovina against Italy, then against NEC in September, when he scored a goal for Juventus in Europe.
That goal made him the second youngest 18-year-old Juventus player to score in European competitions, after Gianfranco Zigoni.
Tonight, he could enter the history of the club on a new basis. Nobody at his age has scored twice for Juventus in Europe, and the record is currently held by Pietro Fanna, who scored against Glentoran in 1977 at the age of 19 years and 132 days after having previously scored against Omonia Nicosia.
Alajbegović is now 19 years and 24 days old, giving him a window of just over three months to surpass that performance. Spalletti, according to the announcements, does not put him in the foreground because of the statistics, but because of the task of causing unrest in Celta’s defense, attacking the space and, if necessary, assisting again or scoring a goal.
In the Juventus attack, he should operate behind Nick Woltemade, together with Francisco Conceição. Gazzetta compares his role to the effect that Kenan Yildiz had in the previous two seasons, as an example of a young player who can immediately take responsibility at Juventus, klix.ba writes.
