Minister Sarovic in Beijing: BiH is Part of One of the largest Economic and Political Projects in the World

sarovic-696x456Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Sarovic is currently staying in China, where he is leading a delegation of BiH in the forum “Belt and Road.”

On this, according to Chinese media, historical event, chaired by President of China Xi Jiping, participate about 100 delegations from all over the world, of which 30 prime ministers and president, including President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Secretary General of the UN Antonio Guterres, and many others.

Minister Sarovic signed an agreement on cooperation with the People’s Republic of China in the field of development, infrastructure, energy, and tourism, on behalf of BiH on a specially organized ceremony. By signing this Agreement, BiH formally became part of the “Belt and Road,” in which the People’s Republic of China put more than 100 billion EUR available for different projects.

“In the upcoming years, if it has appropriate projects, BiH can count on the significant support for its development through this platform. In the next three years, the People’s Republic of China will provide 10,000 scholarships for education, and they are ready to receive 5,000 young engineers and scientists on training,” said Minister Sarovic on this occasion.

Minister Sarovic gave a speech at a special session that was dedicated to trade, led by Chinese Minister of Trade Zhong Shan, and held a number of bilateral meetings yesterday, while for today are announced numerous talks with Chinese investors and companies with the aim of promotion of one of the largest economic and political initiatives of the 21st century, where BiH is a full participant and behind which is a large program of infrastructure investments. China allocated 45 billion USD for the support of infrastructure and trade at the international level, and BiH is part of that great project.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed as confirmation of effective cooperation between BiH and the Republic of China within the Initiative of the economic belt along the Silk Road and the maritime Silk Road of the 21st century. Speaking at a special session on the trade association, Minister Sarovic especially emphasized the importance of further deepening of trade and economic cooperation along the Belt and Road for efficient trade, noting the importance of the support of the People’s Republic of China through easier access to investment and assistance in the building of capacities and infrastructure.

During his stay in Beijing, Minister Sarovic will talk with representatives of Chinese companies about the implementation of already agreed projects, including Powerchina- Sinohydro, the project of motorway in the RS (Glamocani-Mlinista), in the length of 62 km, and projects of TPP Banovici and TPP Tuzla.
