Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Sarovic, intensified the procedures for obtaining a certificate of the origin of fruits and vegetables from BiH that are exported to Russia. This measure was adopted on March 3, this year, and it secured the conditions for negotiations on the abolition of export ban.

The certificate “FORM A” will be issued by the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH in accordance with strict procedures ordered by Minister Sarovic, and it is aimed at decreasing the chance for abuse of this document and leaving only serious producers and exporters in this important business with Russia.

Moreover, Minister Sarovic issued an order to the Authority for the Protection of Health of BiH to significantly improve and make the issuing of a phytosanitary certificate from the competent inspection authorities of the RS, the FBiH and the Brcko Distrikt more accountable with the aim to implement the Protocol for Ensuring Phytosanitary Requests between the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH and the Federal Authority for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision of the Russian Federation during mutual delivery of products with high phytosanitary risk, which the Authority successfully completed.

“With this improvement of the system and control of key documents that are accompanying packages of fruits and vegetables to the Russian Federation, as well as other measures that were implemented during the past period, we managed to achieve the preconditions for bilateral negotiations between BiH and Russia regarding the abolition of export ban on apples,” noted Minister Sarovic.

He sent a letter to the director of the Federal Authority for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision of the Russian Federation, Sergei Aleksejevic Dankvert, in which he informed him that the necessary measures were implemented in BiH and he requested a meeting for negotiations on the continuation of the export of apples to Russia.
