Money allocated for Prevention of the spread of African Swine Fever in the RS

The Management Board of the Compensation Fund of the Republika Srpska approved the payment of funds in the total amount of up to 2,000,000.00 BAM for the needs of support for damage repair and the implementation of measures to suppress and eradicate African swine fever.

The Board of Directors of the Compensation Fund of the Republika Srpska got acquainted today, at the 39th telephone session, with the Information on African swine fever in the Republika Srpska, and concluded that the conditions for the allocation of funds for damage repair and the implementation of measures to suppress and eradicate African swine fever have been met, and in order to ensure sufficient quantities of domestic agricultural products and mitigating the consequences of serious disturbances on the market.

Due to African swine fever, more than 30 thousand pigs have been euthanized in the area of Semberija and Majevica.

The infection is subsiding, mostly because the pigs are almost gone.

African swine fever decimated farms in the northeast of the country. Of the estimated total of 45,000 pigs in Semberija, 30,000 were euthanized in just over two months.
