Money from the Clearing Debt to be invested in the Economy?

The Association of Employers of the FBiH strongly opposed the proposal that the funds that were obtained by collecting the clearing debt from Russia in the part that belongs to the FBiH, and which are amounting to approximately 72.5 million USD, are used for the rehabilitation of the PIO / MIO Fund in the FBiH, as announced by the Association.

They noted that the funds that were obtained through the collection of the clearing debt are the result of the economic activities of companies from BiH that were realized before the war on the market of the then Soviet Union.

“Instead of returning these funds to the economy through the strengthening of companies in the FBiH, the construction of infrastructure facilities such as roads, hospitals, schools and achieving additional value for all citizens of the FBiH on the basis of them, it is proposed for these funds to be used for filling budget holes, rehabilitation of the PIO / MIO Fund, and social benefits,” as stated by the Association of Employers of the FBiH.

They noted that the investment of funds that were realized through the collection of clearing debt in the strengthening of the real sector of economy in the FBiH and the infrastructure investment in new technologies, the increase of exports, the increase in the GDP, which automatically leads to the creation of new workplaces, increase of collection of indirect and direct taxes, and thus a more permanent stabilization of the pension and healthcare fund and more secure social benefits.

“Due to all of these reasons, we insist that the funds that the FBiH received through the collection of the clearing debt from Russia are returned to those who earned them – the economy of the FBiH. We urge the ministers in the Government of FBiH, and representatives in the FBiH to reject another “filling of budget holes” on the expense of the economy, employees and all citizens of the FBiH,” as announced by the Association.
