Intensive construction of modern main road from Stolac to Neum, for which the Government of the Federation allocated more than 30 million euros, and which will enable Bosnians to come to the sea and not to cross the border with Croatia, will begin very soon, confirmed in an interview with BH news agency Patria Federal Minister of Transport and Communications, Enver Bijedić.
The citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina can currently come to Neum only through Croatian territory, or, if they want to avoid Croatia, can use extremely poor rode through the village Svitava, which is in so bad conditions that tourists prefer to wait at the border than to use this road.
“The road that will connect Stolac with Neum will be a little longer than 20 kilometers, and citizens will be able to drive about 80 km/h and pass the road for only 20 minutes,” – says Bijedić. Although the outgoing Minister, Bijedić says that the money for this section was provided by the loan funds, so there should be no obstacle for B&H to finally get this important road, whose construction has already been started and stopped several times.
In Neum, they are looking forward for this road. When it is finally done, it would greatly affect the tourism in the only B&H’s seaside town, and it should be done if not until next season, then most certainly until the tourist season in 2017.
