13170633_1173448372706117_771424071_oConstruction of the Corridor 5C is of great importance for BiH, because it will include us in international modern transportation network. Denis Lasic, the Minister of Transport and Communications of FBiH, claims that the preparation and construction of sections on Corridor are planned this year through several parallel activities. Regarding continuation of construction of the highway to the south, Lasic said that the section from Konjic to Mostar North is the most difficult and most expensive one, due to extremely unfavorable relief-morphological characteristics of the terrain.

Last year was continued the construction of local roads and landscaping of landfills at all subsections of Corridor 5C, that were already under the construction.

“Construction of subsection Klopce – Drivusa and section Svilaj – Odzak was continued. The first phase, or the construction of the highway to the level of pavement, and the facilities along the route, took place,” said Lasic.

“In the past 5 months, we worked intensively to secure additional funds for the continuation of the construction. Most of the funds were agreed with the international financial institutions, or a credible framework for closing financial constructions worth 892 million EUR was set up,” said Lasic.

This year, said Lasic, is planned the beginning of the construction of the section Drivusa – Klopce from the resources of the Kuwait Fund for Economic Development, after which will start the construction of section Zvirovici – Medjugorje – Pocitelj. Also, the continuation of activities for the construction of the section Zenica North is planned as well as construction of the section Mostar South – Buna.

“The Government of FBiH adopted a decision on the model of implementing the construction of the highway section Konjic – Mostar North on the Corridor 5C, which is determined by preliminary solved route that passes through the valley Bijela and the mountain Prenj in the length of 35.16 kilometers between Konjic and Mostar North,” stated Lasic.

Construction of the highway is definitely one of the biggest investment cycles and state investments in recent years. However, BiH did not fully complete the financial structure to ensure the completion of Corridor 5C yet.
