NASA has postponed the Artemis 2 crewed mission to April 2026, and the planned lunar landing mission to mid-2027, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said.
“We plan to launch Artemis 2 on April 26,” Nelson said at a press conference.
After gaining experience from the Artemis 2 crewed test flight, the space agency will make the necessary adjustments, he said.
“We plan to launch Artemis 3 and perform the first lunar landing in more than half a century, assuming SpaceX’s lander is ready. We plan to launch Artemis 3 in mid-2027,” Nelson said.
He added that this will be before China makes a manned flight to the moon, which is planned for 2030.
