The death toll from the earthquake that hit Myanmar has surpassed 2,000, and the World Health Organization (WHO) says the health system is at risk of collapse.
Rescue teams are facing major obstacles due to damaged roads and collapsed bridges.
“There is an urgent need for trauma and surgical care, blood supplies, anesthetics, essential medicines and mental health support,” the WHO report said.
According to the latest figures, 270 people are missing and 3,900 are injured.
The WHO says at least three hospitals have been destroyed and 22 damaged.
In central parts of the country, homes, religious buildings, schools, universities, hotels and hospitals have been damaged or destroyed.
