The mortal remains of 19 victims of the genocide committed in Srebrenica in 1995 will be buried in the Srebrenica Memorial Center-Potocari on July 11 this year.

Spokeswoman of the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH, Emza Fazlic, told FENA news agency that if a family of the victims identified so far in the meantime decides to bury the remains of their loved ones, it will be made available to them.

The youngest victim to be buried in Potocari this year is Azmir Osmanovic, who was just 16 when he was killed. His remains were found in the Poljanci mass grave, and he was identified in May this year.

Another minor, Kiveric Fikret, who was 17 at the time of his death, will also be buried on July 11. His remains were exhumed in the village of Kamenica in 2008. He was officially identified in 2013, and the family found the strength to bury his remains eight years later.

After the burial of these two young men, the graves of 435 minors killed in genocide will be located in the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center.

The oldest victim to be buried this year is Husein Kurbasic, who was 63 when he was killed.

So far, 6,652 victims of the genocide have been buried in the Potocari Memorial Center, while another 237 victims of genocide have been buried in other locations, according to the wishes of the victims’ families. About 1,000 people are still missing.
