Moscow SUpported Referendum wikimedia.orgMoscow supported the decision of the Assembly of RS to call a referendum on trust in the judicial system in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Poor efficiency of the judicial system in B&H was recognized by the political forces in B&H itself and the international community as well. There is a bias in favor of one nation – the BH Serbs – at the state level“, it was said in the statement of Alexander Bikantov, the spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, published on the website of the Ministry.

It was stated there that, due to the noted, the RS is “forced to resort to existing democratic instruments aiming at the realization of its legal interests“.

Bikantov said that the issue of referendum has been raised before as well, but that the situation was superseded by negotiations back then. However, he added, “let us add that the BH problems, among which is the work of the judiciary and the removal of ‘national’ mistakes in their work, are better to be addressed within the framework of equal dialogue between all participants of the political process, in accordance with the Dayton Agreement”.

Russia believes that “avoiding discussion of the core issues with the RS, as well as unilateral interference of the High Representative, destabilized the situation in B&H“.
