Mostar: City Authorities Banned the Police Protest on Rondo

mostar_rondoMostar city authorities banned protests of police union, which were supposed to take place on Monday, 7 April, at 11:00, in front of the building of Croatian House “Herceg Stjepan Kosača”, where at that time will be held the session of Herzegovina- Neretva Canton Assembly.

The President of the union group for budget users of Herzegovina- Neretva Canton Miron Torlo at the press conference said that the decision that prohibits the protests, signed by Head of the Department of Urban Planning and Construction of Mostar City Marina Deronjić, is stated that the Mayor Board in February 2014 prescribed two locations where protest can take place: Kantarevac sports court and sports court North Camp.

“Unions are prohibited to protest, to be on the streets and to seek for their rights and to publicly say their opinion. There is such decision on locations for protests. I wonder why these two locations. They could then decide for us, that we protest on Velež, that none sees or hears us”, said Torlo.

President of Union of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Herzegovina -Neretva Canton said that there are numerous reasons for dissatisfaction and protests of police.

According to him, police officers of Herzegovina -Neretva Canton are the worst equipped police officers in B&H. He added that the current government of Herzegovina – Neretva Canton ignores the final judgment concerning complaints due to the violations of labor rights in order to avoid social dialogue.
