works3Within the plan of the Roads of FBiH for 2016 are provided funds to start with expropriation, and the rest will be provided by the Government of FBiH.

Works on the section Medina – Miljkovici, part of the southern Mostar Bypass, should start in early 2017, and as stated from the Ministry of Transport and Communications of FBiH, their completion is expected within 6 months. They emphasized that it is planned for works on the section Miljkovici – Rodoc – connection to the M17, move Dl and tunnel “Novi” to start in 2018, and the period of performance is about 2 years.

According to the Minister of Transport and Communications of FBiH Denis Lasic, who raised the issue of realization of the project which is needed for 20 years, however, it was neglected because of lack of funds, as well as political will, the works will be financed from loan funds.

“One of the projects in the program of modernization, for which is provided loan from the EBRD, is the construction of southern Mostar Bypass. For completion of the construction of the section Medina – Miljkovici is planned amount of 3 million EUR, and for the works on the section Miljkovici – Rodoc – connection to the M17, move Dl and tunnel ‘Novi’, is planned the amount of 14.45 million EUR,” said Lasic.

For the remaining works on the section and completion of the entire project, it is necessary to provide extra money from the loan, on which depends the continuation of the construction. Taking into account the specificities of certain parts of the route, as well as the possibility of phased construction, section Miljkovici – Rodoc – connection to the M17, is divided into 3 sub-sections.

According to the present situation, all the traffic from Western Herzegovina to the M17 is conducted through the narrow city center, through the streets that are not intended for taking over the transit traffic because of abundant constrictions, connections, traffic lights and pedestrian crossings.

With the construction of southern Mostar Bypass the road M6.1 will be moved, and therefore the transit traffic from the inner city areas and western Herzegovina will be connected to the road M17 and motorway on Corridor 5C.
