Mostar: Tenth Anniversary of the Opening of Renovated Old Bridge

mostar bridgeOn July 23rd 2004, ten years ago, a reconstructed Old Bridge in Mostar was opened. The bridge was destroyed in the war in 1993.

The Old Bridge in Mostar is a masterpiece of Ottoman architecture in the Balkans and one of the most valuable cultural and historical monuments in the world. It was destroyed during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1993 but was renovated and reopened on 23rd July 2004. The project of Old Bridge reconstruction was jointly financed Croatia, Turkey, Italy, the Netherlands, and the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the City of Mostar. The project was worth of 1.5 million Dollars.

On the occasion of the 10th  anniversary of the opening of the Old Bridge, today at 18:00 o’clock in the City Hall there will be a forum titled “Mostar 2014-10 years later”, which is implemented  by the city of Mostar in cooperation with the Infinity Heritage.
