Over the past year, USAID has provided support to projects in B&H that improve the environment and the private sector, all to enhance the local economy, announced the Head of the USAID Mission to B&H David Barth to Fena.
According to him, the natural beauty and resources of B&H offer enormous economic opportunities to citizens, from starting their own businesses to offering services.
Also, Director Barth emphasized that the citizens of B&H and the whole world deserve the opportunity to once again enjoy the treasures of the National Museum-treasures like the Sarajevo Haggadah, a Sephardic illuminated text from the 14th century, whose value is assessed at 700 million dollars, libraries with over 250.000 volumes, extensive collection of folk costumes, famous entomological collection and a unique collection of Neolithic pottery found in the internationally famous site in Butmir.
Together with the National Museum, USAID is also investing in conserving the monastery in Fojnica, and promoting the rich literary tradition through co-financing Sarajevo volumes.
‘’The possibilities in B&H are really endless, just how our campaign states. To highlight the natural resources and opportunities for the development of tourism in B&H, we will organize a series of events that began with USAID’s Facebook competition for the best photo, to the final event that would promote the B&H part of Via Dinarica paths, which we supported together with UNDP’’, said Director Barth.
By promoting the development of tourism opportunities in B&H, USAID encourages capital investment in the local economy and provides a contribution to international and regional marketing activities.
