The way across the mountain Grebak was the only way for delivery medicines and food to people of Gorazde under siege, during the war years from 1992 until 1994, announced BiH news agency Patria.
Thousands of people of besieged Gorazde have walked for days to Grepko to bring a meal for exhausted population. Many are on the way, of more than 60 kilometers, died from the cold or were killed in an ambush.
“Way of life” Gorazde – Grebak – Igman – Trnovo – Pazaric was ensured by fighters of RBiH Army with the help of Gorazde units, 1st Foca Brigade and 1st Corps of the Army of RBiH.
With the wish to mark the heroism and suffering of the people from Gornje Podrinje who are passing “way of life” and survived unseen fears, Bosnian Mountaineering Association Gorazde-Maglic organized every year the mountain walk “Grebak- way of life” on 28th February.
Zajko Sovsic from the Association said that this year they expect hundreds of mountaineers from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina who will join the mountaineering expedition.
“Arrival was also announced by a group of mountaineers from Serbia. Additionally, mountaineers from Poland will join us too. They heard about our walk, and will be happy to honor the people of Gornje Podrinje”, said Sovsic.
According to estimates by a non-governmental organization, around 30,000 people who find salvation in the free territory of BiH, passed through the mountain Grebak, announced NAP.
