According to the takwim of the Islamic Community in BiH, the Laylat ar-Ragha’ib, or the Sacred Night of Desires, started at the time of Maghrib last night. This night is being marked as the night when the arrival of the last Allah’s Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was announced. That is the night when Amina, mother of Allah’s Prophet (SAW), conceived Muhammad (SAW).
Rajab is one of the holy months, a month when good deeds are specially valued and rewarded. In the month of Rajab, Muhammad (SAW) fasted a lot, indicating the importance of that month. That is the month that announces the Mubarak month of Ramadan.
In the beginning of the month, Allah’s Prophet (SAW) prayed to Allah to give him Baraka in the month of Rajab and Sha’ban, and to make him live to welcome the month of Ramadan.
Laylat ar-Ragha’ib, one night in early Rajab, is a suitable time to point to the significance of the month of Rajab and to pray the mentioned Prophet’s (SAW) prayer that says:
“Allahumma baa-rik-lanaa fee-rajaba wa sha’baana wa bal-lig-naa shah-ra ramadhaana.” (“O Allah, make the months of Rajab and Sha’ban blessed for us, and let us reach the month of Ramadan”)
Muslims throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina marked this night with prayers to Allah.
