Muslims in BiH welcome the Eid Today

Today, Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina and around the world welcome Eid al-Adha, the holiday of sacrifice, or Hajj Eid, the time of the Hajj. The central Eid ceremony of the Rijaset of the Islamic Community will be held in the Gazi Husrev Bey Mosque in Sarajevo. After the Fajr prayer at 4:25 a.m., the Eid prayer started at 5:41 a.m.

The festive program will be performed by well-known reciters of the Qur’an, and a suitable verse on this occasion will be said by mr. Dževad Pleh, director of the Gazi Husrev Bey madrasah in Sarajevo.

The importance of Eid is determined by the act of sacrificing sacrifices and sharing sacrificial meat with the poor, friends, and neighbors; as well as the Hajj pilgrimage, when several million Muslims stay in Mecca on certain days.

For Muslims, these are great Mubarak days, days of great good.

Qurban is a sacrifice that is offered in memory of two Adams, a.s. sons and on Ibrahim’s devotion to God. A ram and large cattle are usually sacrificed for the sacrifice, and the sacrificial meat is distributed to the poor, friends, neighbors, and those who need it the most.

Hajj-Eid is the time when several million Muslims stay in the holy places of Mecca and Medina in order to perform the fifth Islamic duty – the Hajj, which the Almighty God prescribes for them and which every Muslim is obliged to perform, if he is healthy and when he acquires the financial conditions for it.

Another joy is the completed Hajj, by which the pilgrims, who are the guests of Allah, come closer to Allah and express their submission and gratitude to Him, hoping for His reward and forgiveness.

The eid lasts four days, and it is the time that Muslims spend with their families, welcoming and visiting family, friends, neighbors, but also waiting for the return of their loved ones from the Hajj.
