Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal announced today that he will return to competitions in January at the tournament in Brisbane.

“After a year, it’s time to come back. It will be in Brisbane on the first Sunday of January. See you there,” the 22-time Grand Slam winner said in a video message on social media.

Nadal has not played since January, when he was injured during his Australian Open second-round match against Mackenzie MacDonald.

In May, just over a week before the start of his favorite Roland Garros, Nadal announced that he would miss the tournament, which he has won a record 14 times. At the time, he said he hoped to return to tennis in 2024, which would be his last career season.

He underwent hip muscle surgery in June.

Rafael Nadal is one of the best tennis players of all time. He is second in the number of Grand Slam titles with 22 major trophies, behind Novak Djokovic who won 24.

The tournament in Brisbane is played from December 31 to January 7 and is the last preparation before the start of the first Grand Slam tournament of the Australian Open season, which is played from January 14 to 28, Beta reports.
