NATO Planning and Review Process for BiH in Focus of Meeting in Sarajevo

Representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina started a three-day activity with the delegation of the NATO Headquarters from Brussels, where the assessment of the Planning and Review Process (PARP) is considered within the framework of the participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the NATO program “Partnership for Peace” for the current year 2023.

The meeting was opened by the Deputy Minister of Defense Slaven Galić, who was also addressed by the Commander of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, Brigadier General Pamela McGaha, the Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Major General Gojko Knežević, and the head of the delegation of the NATO Headquarters for PARP, Rohan Maxwell from Brussels.

The meeting will be held in the period from July 6 to 8, 2023, in the House of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The General Inspector of the MoD of BiH, Brigadier General Mirsad Ahmić, the military representative of BiH in our NATO mission in Brussels, Brigadier Edin Fako, the heads of the organizational units of the MoD of BiH, representatives of the Armed Forces of BiH, and representatives of NATO from Brussels and Naples, the NATO headquarters in Sarajevo, also participated in the meeting. of EUFOR, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH and the Ministry of Security of BiH.

The keynote speakers emphasized the great importance of this cooperation mechanism with NATO, which significantly contributes to building and strengthening the operational capabilities of the defense system.

Everyone is of the opinion that this type of cooperation should be continued and intensified.

It was also stated that the aid package approved by NATO and whose implementation has begun will significantly contribute to the modernization of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Within the framework of the Partnership for Peace, PARP is a mechanism that enables the identification of the strengths and capabilities of partner countries that can be available to NATO in joint activities, and the planning of the development of those capabilities and capacities. Bosnia and Herzegovina has been participating in the PARP process since 2007.
