Dutch singer Jost Klein has been disqualified from the Eurovision Song Contest grand final as Swedish police investigate allegations of misconduct, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has announced.

“Dutch artist Jost Klein will not be competing in the grand final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Swedish police are investigating a complaint from a female production crew member following an incident following his semi-final performance on Thursday night,” the statement said.

The announcement added that “while the legal process is taking its course, it would not be appropriate for him to continue participating in the competition,” the PA media agency reported.

The EBU notes that “contrary to some media reports and speculation on social media, this incident did not involve any other performers or members of the delegation”.

“We have a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate behavior at our event and are committed to ensuring a safe and secure work environment for all staff at the competition. In this regard, Jost Klein’s behavior towards a team member is considered a violation of competition rules,” the statement reads.

The final of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest will be held tonight with 25 songs, the EBU confirmed.

Klein performed with the song “Europapa”, with which he paid tribute to his late parents.
