What do the new Documents of WikiLeaks say about BiH?

39164252The database of WikiLeaks contains 27.490 documents which mention Bosnia and Herzegovina. Especially interesting are the e-mail correspondences addressed to the presidential candidate in the USA Hillary Clinton, which refer to BiH.
Melanne Verveer mentioned BiH in one email sent to Clinton. Verveer and Clinton founded the association Vital Voices Global Partnership, and she was employed as an associate to Bill Clinton during his term and the ambassador-at-large of Barrack Obama.

In an email sent on October 25, 2011, Verveer wrote how she just got back from a trip to BiH and Croatia, adding that a political paralysis caught BiH, preventing its progress. She also said that the politicians continue emphasizing their dissatisfaction, instead of working for the better future.

Furthermore, she criticized the division of authority in BiH, writing how the entities, cantons and national structure are so complicated that it is impossible to do anything simple.

“There is so little harmonization of regulations and laws and so much segregation,” Verveer wrote. She added that the progress of Serbia towards the EU might be the best hope for BiH and Kosovo.

wikiLeaks also published the contents of one of the emails sent by one volunteer to the chief of electoral staff of Hillary Clinton John Podesta. The email says that Hillary must pay attention to the votes of BiH diaspora who are present in strategically important states of Iowa and Missouri.

“Barrack Obama lost Missouri to McCain for 3.903 votes in 2008. One must go aggressively after these votes,” the email says.

Amitabh Desai, advisor to Hillary Clinton for foreign policy, mentioned BiH in discussions about the policy of Germany towards Greece. Namely, those days (July 2015) the German Chancellor Angela Merkel was supposed to come to BIH, where they would ask her about her attitude towards the Greek crisis.

The plan failed because Merkel ironically responded that she is too busy with Greece to talk about Bosnia.
