New Factory to be opened in Doboj?

fabrika dobojOver the past two years, the City of Doboj has changed and developed, although in 2014 they suffered a severe disaster caused by floods which damaged around 1.000 business entities which recorded losses worth millions.

With the aim of helping these businessmen, in the past period the City Assembly acted rapidly and reached a series of decisions that refer to co-financing of interests in the amount of half a million BAM. Moreover, they supported the businessmen through direct aid, with 2.5 million BAM.

Mayor Obren Petrović says that City of Doboj freed the businessmen of paying taxes on real estate.

Efforts and work of Petrović, who cares about equality of all nations, were recognized by foreign investors who decide to invest in Doboj more and more. Some of the examples of foreign investment are Factory of lime in Ševarlije, owned by the Belgian company “Carmeuse”, world’s largest lime producer, the factory for oil processing built in Kotorsko by investors from Turkey, and there is also the construction of a factory for processing of fruits and vegetables in Ševarlije by Benkons from Azerbaijan.

“For us, this is a very important project. This investment is worth 40 million EUR and should ensure around 400 new workplaces and job for around 5.000 sub-contractors, small agricultural producers from the city, the RS, and BiH, which will certainly be an encouragement for business activities in our local community. We are talking about an area of 10.000 square meters right next to the railway. Since Doboj is an important railway junction, this will enable the factory to transport its finished products immediately towards the port Ploče, the Western Europe and to other markets. The city has provided land, rent, landscaping, water supply and a power station, which cost us around three million BAM. We hope that the factory will start operating by the end of this year or by the beginning of next one,” said the Mayor Petrović.

Petrović emphasized that unless the project of flood protection is implemented, creation of a better business environment and development of the city cannot be sustainable.
