New Minister of Defense of Bosnia-Herzegovina appointed

The newly appointed Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Minister of Defense, Sifet Podzic, assumed office on December 30thfrom former Minister of Defense Marina Pendes. Deputy Ministers of Defense Mijo Kresic and Mirko Okolic also took over the post.

The Minister of Defense, Sifet Podzic, thanked the former Minister of Defense, Marina Pendes, for the successful implementation of the legally prescribed activities of the Ministry of Defense and the Mission of the Armed Forces of BiH during her term of office.

He said that he had “excellent cooperation with Minister Pendes so far, since the establishment of the BiH Armed Forces,” and that its results are extremely large and important for the defense sector created in the last 16 years, ” concluded Minister Podzic at the end of his address.

Former Minister Marina Pendes thanked everyone for the fair cooperation that lasted for almost 16 years, and expressed her wish to continue successfully with the started projects, wishing to achieve even better results.

The ceremony, which was held at the Armed Forces of BiH House in Sarajevo, was attended by top officials of the BiH Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces, and was preceded by a meeting between former Minister Marina Pendes and representatives of the BiH military and diplomatic corps.

Minister of Defense of BiH Sifet Podzic was the first Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia- Herzegovina, military adviser to the Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina, BiH Ambassador to the Republic of Bulgaria, delegate to the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, and was also the President of the Joint the Defense and Security Committees of both Houses of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, and a member of the Joint Commission on European Integration in front of both Houses of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.
