In mid-March, a new meat processing plant of the company “Bajra” will be opened in the Central Bosnia Canton. This plant will provide new 700 workplaces and include around 500 cooperators in this project.
This investment is worth 40 million BAM and its implementation has been ongoing for almost eight months now. Around 500 candidates applied for vacancies and another 500 cooperators will be included in the implementation of this project from whom livestock will be purchased via the Association or individually.
Minister of Agriculture of the Central Bosnia Canton Salkan Merdžanić said that, although it has all prerequisites for livestock breeding development, this Canton is not oriented towards that branch of agriculture to a significant extent.
“So far, the overall coverage of this branch of agriculture is only 20 percent, so there is a lot of space for progress. Investments such as this one will certainly give an impetus to the development of cattle breeding in our Canton,” Merdžanić said.
Legal representative of the Meat Industry Bajra Amela Đedović said that priority in the employment process will be given to students who have graduated from universities and who are registered at the Employment Service, actively looking for a job.
Merdžanić added that it is necessary to facilitate procedures to domestic investors in order for more such projects, as Bajra’s one, to be implemented.
According to the investor, as the demand for production and export of meat products out of the borders of BiH increases, up to 500 workers will be employed in this plant by next year.
