The group “Reci Dosta” announced the occasion of the gathering that was held on February 14 in front of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo, saying that the gathering had no political character and was not directed against anyone.
As they stated in the statement delivered to the media, the gathering was organized from 3 to 4 p.m. in accordance with the tragedy that shook the public, and at a level that, they point out, befits the situation.
“We emphasize that today’s gathering was absolutely in accordance with the law and regulations. The gathering was duly announced to the Canton Sarajevo Ministry of Interior, along with the notification of all planned activities, and we also organized our own security guards. Both in the invitation to the gathering, as well as during the gathering itself, it was clearly and decisively emphasized that it was a peaceful gathering that was not against anyone,” said the group “Say Enough”.
They add that, after the meeting, they noticed the behavior of individuals and the appearance of certain pages on social networks that, they claim, are trying to use the name “Say Enough” to start new protests, including those announced for Sunday, along with speculations about possible riots.
“There are reports that the ‘Say Enough’ group calls for Sunday protests as well, which is not true. Due to the pressure, possible abuses and endangering the safety of the people who organized the rally on Saturday, the ‘Say Enough’ group is dissociating itself from any organization of public protests until further notice. We hope that the time will come when gatherings can be organized without abuse,” they said.
As a reminder, thousands of citizens gathered yesterday in Sarajevo for protests regarding the tram accident in which a young man, Erdoan Morankić, was killed, while Ella Jovanović was seriously injured.
The rally was held in front of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, not far from the intersection where the accident happened.
Citizens carried banners of support for the injured Ella Jovanović, as well as messages demanding the responsibility of the competent institutions. Many citizens, professors and activists spoke during the protest.
After more than 45 minutes, the organizers invited those present to observe a minute of silence in honor of the martyred Morankić, which ended the official part of the meeting. However, part of the citizens then continued their protests, and in the meantime, the intersections near SCC and Skenderija were also blocked, with messages that the Sarajevo Canton Government must resign.
