One school in Pakistan, in area Dehri in province Punjab, will be named after the first democratically elected President of the Presidency of B&H Alija Izetbegovic.
Ambassador of B&H to Pakistan Nedim Makarevic explained that they started with the project of building schools whose full name is “Pak-Bosnia International School Alija Izetbegovic” a little over a year ago.
“The idea was to help to Pakistan with something which has permanent value. The fact is that Dehri is one of the poorest areas in Punjab and the whole Pakistan and it has a constant problem of drinking water. It is a fact that people do not have international schools in entire Dehri. B&H has a right and can prove to be an example in terms of education, especially to friendly country in need, that has always helped us within their capacities,” said Makarevic.
The school is located in a very good position, just over 5 kilometers from the highway Islamabad-Lahore. It is located along asphalted road and it is close to local roads. The school will be able to accept 300 students. It is placed in an area of over 2,000 m2 and the school itself is designed with 10 classes for 30 students with the ability for upgrade.
“B&H was not directly involved in the project through its organs, the budget or in any way but it does not make the project less Bosnian. Although I organized funds through private channels, this is a project of the B&H Embassy in Pakistan, and thus the project of B&H,” said Makarevic.
Regarding this, Chief Minister of Punjab Sehbaz Sharif received yesterday the Ambassador Makarevic and thanked B&H for the help and accepted the invitation to be the one to open the school. He also thanked Ambassador Makarevic on his previous engagement in Pakistan and all projects of “raising the level of trade exchange, donations, charity concerts, compassion for Pakistan’s problems” and handed him the Certificate of Appreciation at a ceremony in his office.
