During July 2026, 284,301 passengers passed through Sarajevo International Airport, while 2,254 air operations were carried out, which represents one of the most successful months in the airport’s history.

The Airport announced that they continue to record good results in 2026, confirming their position as the most important airport gateway of Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of the fastest growing airports in the region.

“Already at the beginning of July, the millionth passenger in 2026 was welcomed, which confirmed the strong growth of passenger traffic and the continuous increase of interest in Sarajevo as a tourist and business destination”, announced the Airport.

Positive trends continued in August. On Saturday, August 1, 2026, Sarajevo International Airport achieved a new historical record with 13,199 passengers served in one day, which is the highest daily number of passengers recorded since the establishment of the airport.

These results come at a time when air traffic around the world is facing numerous challenges, and additionally confirm the growing confidence of passengers, successful cooperation with airlines and the increasingly pronounced attractiveness of Sarajevo on the international tourist map.

The Acting Director of Sarajevo International Airport, Dino Selimović, said that he expects intensive passenger traffic to continue in the coming weeks.
“Achieved results confirm that year after year Sarajevo becomes an increasingly attractive destination for tourists, business travelers and our citizens who travel around the world. We are especially pleased by the fact that the growth is not temporary, but is part of the continuous development and strengthening of air connections between Bosnia and Herzegovina and European and world destinations. This summer, Sarajevo is hosting numerous cultural, sports and entertainment events that attract tens of thousands of visitors from the region and the world. The 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival, one of the most significant events in this part of Europe, along with a series of accompanying events, which is why we expect the continuation of intense passenger traffic in the coming weeks,” said Selimović.

He thanked all employees of Sarajevo International Airport, partners and airlines for their dedicated work and support.
“We continue to invest in the development of infrastructure, the improvement of services and the expansion of the network of destinations in order to respond to the growing needs of passengers and ensure the further development of the airport and Bosnia and Herzegovina,” he said.

As the announcement concludes, the continuous growth in the number of passengers and the volume of traffic confirms that Sarajevo International Airport is successfully responding to the needs of the market, and represents one of the key drivers of the development of tourism, economy and international connectivity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
