The new Sarajevo trolleybuses were put into operation today, and until June 6, citizens will be able to use free of charge.

Five trolleybuses will run on the existing lines of the Otoka – Austrian Square and Dobrinja – Austrian Square.

“The new trolleybuses are equipped with the most modern equipment, they were bought with the money of the citizens of Sarajevo Canton, and that is why we appeal to everyone to keep and protect our common property,” said Sarajevo Canton Transport Minister Adnan Steta.

These are the most modern vehicles that have video surveillance and the most modern equipment, and are adapted for use by people with disabilities.

In an international tender conducted in accordance with the rules of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the company Belkommunmash (BKM) Holding from Belarus was selected for the procurement of new trolleybuses.

”Apart from procuring new trolleybuses, we are expanding the trolleybus network to Vogosca. We expect to announce a tender this year, select a contractor, and complete the work by 2022. After that, we will procure an additional 10 trolleybuses to have a ‘rolling stock’ of 35 vehicles,” Minister Steta concluded.
