This year will bring new trolleybuses to the streets of Sarajevo, and the first of them started to come yesterday from Minsk, Belarus.
Cantonal Transport Minister Adnan Steta announced that for the first time since 1983, Sarajevo will have new trolleybuses.
”The new Sarajevo trolleybus is coming from Minsk. Great steps have been taken to reform public transport, we are continuing even more decisively and more securely, exclusively in the interest of all citizens of Canton Sarajevo (CS),” Steta announced on social networks.
In an international tender conducted in accordance with the rules of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the company Belkommunmash (BKM) Holding from Belarus was selected for the procurement of new trolleybuses.
”Apart from procuring new trolleybuses, we are expanding the trolleybus network to Vogosca. We expect to announce a tender this year, select a contractor, and complete the work by 2022. After that, we will procure an additional 10 trolleybuses to have a ‘rolling stock’ of 35 vehicles,” Minister Steta concluded.
