BiH, as well as the entire region, gives quite small importance and attention to young people, especially young people who are engaged in film and other kinds of art.
Encouraged by this, the young people from Sarajevo started the Youth Film Festival (OFF) eight years ago.
Step by step, OFF grew into an important cultural event, which besides standard film competition program, also focuses on education, training and acquiring new knowledge through the prism of film and art, as well as current and relevant issues that are bothering the young generations.
Youth Film Festival Sarajevo will take place from Thursday, the 25th of August, to Sunday, the 28th of August.
It will be held on two festival locations: in the House of Armed Forces of BiH (Dom Armije) and on the Yellow Bastion, the most attractive tourist site in the city of Sarajevo.
In the House of Armed Forces of BiH will be a festival center, cinema and open-air cinema. On the Yellow Bastion will be held the program of the Lazy Cinema Open Air.
“The goal of the Youth Film Festival Sarajevo is to return the position in society that belonged to youth, to get the society aware about the problems that they may have. What makes OFF different from other youth festivals is that it shows the problems through works of art and offers the solutions in the same way. Secondary goal is to revive the spirit of healthy competition and enable young filmmakers from BiH, the region and Europe to meet each other, exchange their experiences and make some new contacts,” as announced from the organization of the OFF.
This year’s competition program of the OFF includes 3 competitive categories:
- Short feature film (10 films)
- Short animated film (5 films)
- Short documentary film (7 films)
Besides the competition program of the festival, this year will also be held the educational program, special themed film screenings and music programs.
