Niko Kovac has been officially fired and is no longer the coach of the German team Wolfsburg, currently sitting at a modest 14th place in the Bundesliga.
The former coach of the Croatian national football team was dismissed due to poor results, with the final blow coming from a home defeat in the 26th round of the Bundesliga against Augsburg, with a score of 1:3. Wolfsburg, under Kovac‘s leadership, has not won any of the previous 10 matches.
Marcel Schafer, the club’s director, announced yesterday that the decision had been made to terminate the cooperation with Kovac, as well as with his assistants in the coaching staff, Niko’s brother Robert, and Aaron Briggs.
“We regret this turn of events. However, we believe that this is the right move to give the team a new impulse,” Schafer emphasized.
Niko Kovac, the former successful coach of Bayern Munich and Eintracht, joined Wolfsburg from Monaco in 2022.
