SDP party President and Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Nikšić reacted to former US Ambassador Michael Murphy’s comment that Bakir Izetbegović was ready to divide the country, and said that such claims do not surprise him.
In a post on social media, Nikšić said that Murphy’s statements were too serious to pass over without comment.
“We in the SDP BiH are not surprised by the information that Bakir Izetbegović supported and even encouraged the division of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We mentioned earlier how even high-ranking SDA members warned us that he has a map in his cabinet with the borders of the divided Bosnia and Herzegovina. The information that the former US ambassador to BiH, Michael Murphy, presented to the public is in itself too serious to be passed over in silence, and it only further confirms what we He was a serious diplomat with a decade-long career for which he was awarded in the USA,” said Nikšić.
He points out that Bakir Izetbegović has been trying to divert attention for years by accusing the SDP of betraying the state.
“Mr. Murphy clearly stated that during the negotiations on constitutional reform, Izetbegović emphasized the division, or rather the disintegration of Bosnia and Herzegovina into three parts. Of course, according to the old principle, the one who steals tries to divert attention from himself by shouting “catch the thief.” Bakir Izetbegović has been trying to divert attention for several years by accusing us of allegedly betraying Bosnia and Herzegovina. He has not been too ashamed of his actions so far, so we do not expect him to comment on his shameful actions and the claims he made.
Although it would be good for him to explain what kind of division he agreed to and which ‘his’ part is larger than Slovenia’s,” Nikšić said.
Finally, he said that the truth always comes out.
“We are lucky that we defeated him in the last elections and thus prevented him from intending to divide the country. And we will defeat him again in the interest of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and all its citizens. Now it is clear why the SDA youth recently tested the public with the story of mega cantons. The patriots did not defend Bosnia and Herzegovina so that anyone could plunder it, least of all Bakir Izetbegović and his followers. In the end, the truth always comes out, which is why the citizens should leave Bakir Izetbegović, the traitor in the attempt, in retirement,” concluded Nermin Nikšić.
