Zukan Helez, Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with Deputy Minister Aleksandar Goganović and Deputy Commander of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Brigadier General Martin Propadalo, today hosted U.S. Congressmen Keith Self and Suhas Subramanyam, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires to Bosnia and Herzegovina John Ginkel, and U.S. Military Attaché to Bosnia and Herzegovina Brigadier Gregory Holmes.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States in defense and security, the current security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans, and the continuation of U.S. support for the modernization and development of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Speaking about cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States, Minister Helez expressed gratitude for the continuous support the United States provides to the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing that the United States has made the greatest contribution to the modernization of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina through training, equipping, and capacity-building programs.
Helez emphasized that for 2026, more than 80 joint activities are planned between the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and U.S. partner institutions. He also expressed expectations for the swift realization of the largest investment in the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina: the acquisition of new American helicopters, according to the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
